My First Post Ever!
Wow, it’s my first time. My very first ‘post.’ Where do I begin? Perhaps the birth of Women Climbing Trees would be a good start. Well I am a Canadian living in the UK for 12 years now. I came over from Toronto to study to be a Chiropractor and never left. I opened my own Chiropractic clinic in May 2006 called ‘Align-doctors of chiropractic’ (www.align.org.uk) . Shameless plug, is that allowed? What is weblog etiquette (just found spell check-can’t spell etticut, eticat, etecet…good grief I am supposed to be university educated).
It is a long tale….the trip to Women Climbing Trees that is. God, I just had a thought. Who is going to read this; maybe this is totally boring. Wait, it really gets better. Enter the female version of the mid-life crisis. Well mine is occurring at 40 and that isn’t technically my mid life as I have decided to stick around until 100.
So 40. I wasn’t exactly thrilled or bothered about 40 other than still being childless, unmarried and a bit immature and I think I want all those things (that is, to be married, have kids and be mature…ish). So yes I turned 40 last August the 21st (yes Leo) and had a great birthday party with cocktails and dancing but things went a bit pear-shaped from there.
Being 40!
Now perhaps you need to know a little about me to appreciate what I year I have had, but if I waste all the juicy bits in the first post, it will be hard to get you back for more. So in summary, 40 has included (and I have about 6 weeks left until 41…good grief; I wanted to say God there but unsure of the implications of religious offending (and by the way I do believe in God but not in the I’ll squash all you sinners type but that is another entry all together). So, 40 has included:
- ski accident (torn low back ligaments) not good for Chiropractor needing to treat clients (back still not completely healed)
- 2 major incidents at work; still too bruised to discuss publicly but these have jump-started my journey to Women Climbing Trees
- my dog gets bitten twice in 8 weeks and this furthers his issues with fear aggression (he then bites me fairly badly but I can not give up on him-’Wilson’ by the way)
- planning permission was refused for my dream project
- set the kitchen on fire
- my partner leaves me about 5 times (but we are still together and have much potential)
Nick Williams
That’s all I can remember but that is more than enough. Somehow through this eventful year I decided I needed a mentor. While searching for a mentor, I happened to attend a seminar by Nick Williams (www.inspired-entrepreneur.com) and decided he was the mentor for me. I bought one of his books, read it, put it down, returned to it, read some more and things started to happen. In a nut-shell I decided it was time for me to start ‘feeding my soul’ as Nick would say. So Women Climbing Trees is all about my journey back to my soul food. Its going to be and has been quite the trip. So for those eager to join me, please stay tuned cuz there is lots more coming!!
